Hang on everyone, hang on hang on. Look at this, there’s a little light pinging on and off in the wall. What do you reckon that means?
Nobbly seems to recognise it. “Well, there’s a telephone icon on the button next to it.”
a what?
“A thing we used to talk to ppl through ages ago that is still the drawing ppl use for things we talk to ppl through now.”
WHAT, MOUTHS?
“Yeh, I think mouths used to look like that.”
And they still use it for the icon on things? Weird weird weird.
“There’s a lot of thinge’s like that, I have noticed. Have you ever seen those buttons you get in a word processer, that look like a blue square with a big white square label at the top and a little grey slidey rectangle bit at the bottom, and it means save?”
oe yeah! I was writing my diary the other day and I noticed that.
“Yeah! Well they used to have special boxes or something that looked like that, and I expect you could keep paper in it.”
Keep what?
“WELL, that’s another story. You noe wrapping paper?”
yeh
“Like that but you don’t wrap things in it.
what? what DO you do with it
“You write on it!”
o what, like, “To _____ From _____”
“Yeh.”
fair enough. So I bet the flashing light means someone is trying to Hail the ship from nearby then. I’m not sure where we are in space currently, so I wonder which aliens we are going to encounter today! so shall we press this tellephone button and see if we can talk to somebody?
“Ok. I will do it. Boop!”
… but you merely said boop.
“O sorry. BOOP”
But you merely bellowed boop. That’s still saying boop but louder, here I will press it. There.
